The American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA) 2021 Conference was held virtually from Sept 21-24, wherein our team presented the foundational work behind Cardinal LCA, done as part of the seminar at Harvard GSD instructed by Prof. Jonathan Grinham. Project titled ‘Early Stage Design LCA Calculation Framework within Grasshopper’ was presented as part of the Buildings & Power category.The conference proceedings shall be published soon on the ACLCA 2021 webpage.

The co-founders won the 3rd prize at the Harvard WECode Startup Pitch Competition 2021, where the six finalist teams each gave an 8 min pitch followed by a 3 minute Q&A with the judges. Cardinal LCA, an early-stage environmental-impact assessment tool developed by Jessica Chen (MDes EE ’22) and Kritika Kharbanda (MDes EE ’23), was recently released as a Grasshopper plug-in. Designed for non-experts, the tool allows architects to analyze the environmental costs of material decisions in the early stages of the design process. Read more about article here.
